Despised One

One of the more unusual names in the Bible is this name, Despised One. God revealed it to Isaiah to describe how the Servant of the Lord would be viewed. It is a prophetic and messianic name of Jesus (Yeshua‘). Although Israel’s religious and political national leaders received Jesus poorly, even royalty would later recognize Him as God’s messiah.

Bible reference: Isa. 49:7

Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and its Holy One,
To the despised One,
To the One abhorred by the nation,
To the Servant of rulers,
“Kings will see and arise,
Princes will also bow down,
Because of the Lord who is faithful, the Holy One of
Israel who has chosen You.” (Isaiah 49:7)
