Hope of their fathers

The Hebrew word miqweh means “to wait or look for with eager expectation.” So, when the Bible says that God was the Hope of their fathers it means that the ancestors of Israel looked to God in anticipation of the good things that He would do for them. He continues to be the object of our hope and will never fail us.
