Root and descendant of David

When the book of Revelation calls Jesus (Yeshua‘) the root and descendant of David, it states two things. Jesus certainly was descended from King David and had the title, Son of David. As David’s root, Jesus preceded David. David sprung forth from Jesus. The emphasis of this name of Jesus is Jesus as the source and purpose of David’s life. Jesus was one with God in creation, the Beginning of the creation of God.
