Watcher of men

Job called God the Watcher of men. It sounds to some people as though Job thought that God had him under surveillance looking for faults. However, the Hebrew word means to guard or preserve. In one verse, God calls Himself the keeper (notserah) of the vineyard of Israel, guarding (’etsorennah) it round the clock. God is the one who is always looking out for His people.
